XtraGrass at the magnificent Showa Denko Dome

Our partner ASTRO in Japan successfully installed XtraGrass at the magnificent Showa Denko Dome in Oita, Japan. Featuring 40.000-seats and the largest retractable roof in Japan, the stadium hosted five Rugby World Cup 2019 matches including the quarter finals of pools C and D.

The XtraGrass pitch with warm season grass was cultivated as sods at an external sod farm, and was installed at the stadium as a lay-and-play system. The pitch is used for both rugby and soccer matches.

Today, the XtraGrass pitch in the Showa Denko Dome is home ground of the J-League soccer club Oita Trinita. The Japanese J-league is the professional football division.
